Practice throwing bigger and taller, and see how far you can push your clay. WEEK 5: Play week! With deep dives from the teacher on any techniques you want more knowledge about, this week is about experimenting. WEEK 6: Turning your remaining pieces WEEK 7: Learn the art of glazing, and how colour and texture can come alive in the final firing We keep our class size small - just 7 students - ensuring you'll always have your own wheel and plenty of individual attention from your instructor. Each 3-hour session provides ample time to practice and experiment, with 15 minutes allocated at the end for cleaning your workspace. EXPERIENCE LEVEL Perfect for complete beginners who have always wanted to try their hand at the potter's wheel in a supportive environment, or those with throwing experience who want time and space to practice their skills with support from a teacher. PRICING At Neighbourhood, we use a solidarity pricing system in order to promote equity and diversity and increase access to pottery as a craft. At checkout, you will have the choice of 3 prices for this course. Please choose either 'Low Income' for £210, 'Standard' for £230, or 'Lend a Hand' for £250 based on your personal circumstances. The 'Lend a Hand' price helps us subsidise the low income spaces. FINISHED WORK Pieces made during the course will be ready for collection after their final firing 1-2 weeks after the course ends. WHAT TO WEAR Clay and glaze both rinse out of clothes very easily, but wear something you don't mind getting a bit messy in. Also, please bring an apron if you have one. If not, we have spare ones you can use. Please note this course is for people aged 16 and above.
