STUDIO

Neighbourhood Pottery studio is a brand new community studio space on Queens Road in Hastings, East Sussex.

Our vision for Neighbourhood Pottery Studio is a fun and collaborative space to learn and practice pottery, and a place where everyone who comes through our doors brings something unique and valuable to the table - even if you’ve never touched clay before!

So whether you are looking to hone your skills as a potter or just want a few hours to switch off and get your hands dirty, you are welcome at Neighbourhood.

ACCESSIBILITY

At Neighbourhood, we want to make pottery as accessible as possible to people looking to enjoy this craft. We know that there will be things that we might not have thought of so if you have any questions, concerns or thoughts about how we can make the studio more inclusive and welcoming please contact us.

SOLIDARITY PRICING

Making pottery is unfortunately quite cost intensive due to the price of materials and energy to fire pieces. To try to increase access for lower income potters, we offer a solidarity pricing structure where you can choose from three tiers of prices: one “Low Income” price, one “Standard” price, and a “Pay it Forward” price which helps us to subsidise the low income tier and increase access. We encourage potters to choose the option that best suits them - no questions asked.

INCLUSION

Neighbourhood is an inclusive studio. Participants are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful manner towards fellow participants and studio staff. Any form of racism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, or other forms of discrimination or microaggressions will not be tolerated. If you have witnessed or experienced a violation of this policy, please speak to a member of staff.

STUDIO ACCESS

Our studio has step-free access and most surfaces are tiled, laminate or wood. We have a loo suitable for disabled guests with an alarm cord and handrails. Our studio is set up for potters to work standing up or sitting at high tables with tall, backless stools, but we can accommodate those who require a lower table with a chair.
