Service Description

This 7-week course is designed for students who have already been through our Beginners Pottery course (or have similar experience elsewhere). You will practice the skills you've learned already and be introduced to exciting new techniques to make and decorate pottery. Topics include: sculpture, throwing taller, throwing mugs and attaching handles, and Nerikomi. SCHEDULE Week 1: Sculpture Week 2: Kurinuki Week 3: Nerikomi Week 4: Throwing taller Week 5: Throwing mugs Week 6: Turning, attaching handles and sgraffito Week 7: Glazing PRICING At Neighbourhood, we use a solidarity pricing system in order to promote equity and diversity and increase access to pottery as a craft. At checkout, you will have the choice of 3 prices for this course. Please choose either 'Low Income' for £210, 'Standard' for £230, or 'Lend a Hand' for £250 based on your personal circumstances. The 'Lend a Hand' price helps us subsidise the low income spaces. FINISHED WORK Student work will be bisque fired throughout the course, and glazed at the end. 2.5 kilos of fired work is included in the price of the course and any work fired beyond this will be charged at a rate of £6 per kilo. Pieces will be ready for collection after their final firing a couple weeks after the course ends. WHAT TO WEAR Clay and glaze both rinse out of clothes very easily, but wear something you don't mind getting a bit messy in. Also, please bring an apron if you have one. If not, we have spare ones you can use. NOTE: Participants must be 16 or over.
