Private Lessons
Give pottery a go or build your skills with one-to-one lessons that fit around your schedule!
Fancy trying pottery for the first time, developing your skills, or getting a little help with something tricky? Our private lessons give you the time, space and support to work on whatever interests you.
Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced potter, each lesson is tailored to your abilities, interests and goals. There's no set curriculum and no need to keep up with a group – just you, your teacher and plenty of clay to get stuck into!
What can I learn?
Pretty much anything pottery-related! If you're new to clay, you can learn the basics of wheel throwing or handbuilding. If you've got some experience, you might want to tackle a tricky technique, develop your creative style or work on a specific project.
Your lesson could cover:
-
Wheel throwing - from your first pot to throwing taller or more complex forms
-
Handbuilding - coiling, slab building and sculpture
-
Trimming and finishing - refining shapes, adding handles and finishing touches
-
Glazing and surface decoration - exploring colours, textures and finishes
-
Creative development - experimenting with ideas and developing your own style
Or anything else you'd like to try! Just let us know what you're interested in when booking.

How does it work?
Choose a 1, 2 or 3-hour lesson and work at your own pace with dedicated guidance throughout.
All clay, tools and materials are included, and you can make as many pieces as you like during your session. At the end, choose your favourites to keep and pick your glazes. Our technicians will take care of the glazing and firing, and your finished pottery will be ready to collect one month after your lesson.
If you'd like to trim or glaze your own pieces, you can book a follow-up lesson and arrange the timings with Tim.

How much?
-
1 hour: £30 (1 pot glazed and fired)
-
2 hours: £55 (2 pots glazed and fired)
-
3 hours: £80 (3 pots glazed and fired)
Everything is included in the price, and you can keep additional pieces for £10 per extra pot.
