Kids Pottery Club
Every other Sunday · Ages 5–15 · No experience needed
Does your kid love getting messy, making things and getting creative? Our fortnightly Kids Pottery Club is a chance to have a play with clay, learn new skills and make some very cool stuff.
Run by Libby Hood, sessions are relaxed, playful and designed to give kids plenty of room to use their imaginations. Each session we’ll introduce a different project or theme, teaching pottery techniques along the way while encouraging everyone to put their own spin on what they make.
And grown-ups can get involved too! Each session will have a kids’ project and a grown-ups’ project, so if you fancy getting your hands muddy alongside them, you can make something you’ll love too.
Ages 5–8
Every other Sunday · 1:30–3pm
These sessions focus on handbuilding, using simple techniques like pinching, coiling, slab building, sculpting and decorating that are easy to pick up and can be used to make all sorts of things.
Perfect for little makers who like getting messy and seeing where their imagination takes them.
Ages 9–15
Every other Sunday · 4–5:30pm
Our older group alternates between handbuilding and wheel throwing, giving young potters the chance to try different ways of working with clay and gradually build their skills.
Projects will change from session to session, with plenty of freedom to experiment, develop their own ideas and make each project their own.
Complete beginners are very welcome!
Prices
First child — £18
Additional children — £12 each
Grown-ups joining in — £10 each
Sessions are booked individually, so there’s no need to commit to a whole term. Come every fortnight, join us occasionally, or pick the sessions that take your fancy.
You can add as many children and grown-ups as you like to your booking, subject to spaces being available.
Do parents need to stay?
Parents and carers are welcome to join either age-group session, but you don’t have to take part.
If you’d like to make alongside your child, please book both a child place and a £10 grown-up place. Chairs are limited, so booking a grown-up place lets us know to save you a seat and prepare enough clay and materials for you.
We recommend that children under 10 have adult supervision. If your child is older, or you’re comfortable leaving them with us, you’re welcome to drop them off and come back at the end of the session.
They’ll be in great hands with our enhanced DBS-checked teacher.
Good to know
All clay, materials, glazing and firing are included in the price.
Finished creations will be dried, glazed and fired after the session and will be ready to collect from the studio one month later.
Pottery can get a little messy, so please bring a child-sized apron if you have one. We have some spares at the studio if not - and luckily, clay washes out of clothes pretty easily!
No previous pottery experience is needed. Just come ready to get creative (and probably a little muddy).
