Pottery Painting

Pottery painting is a relaxed, low-pressure way to get creative and make something you love. Pick a piece from our ever-changing selection of handmade ceramics, grab some paints, and make it your own!

Whether you're painting a mug for your morning coffee, making a gift for someone special, or just fancy an afternoon of getting creative, there's something for everyone. Keep it simple, get experimental, paint your cat on a plate – anything goes!

No experience needed, no pressure to make a masterpiece, and no need to commit to a whole afternoon. Come on your own, bring a friend, make a date of it, or get the family involved.

How it works

1. Choose your pottery

Have a browse through our shelves of handmade ceramics, with pieces ranging from £5–£40. You'll find everything from mugs, bowls and plates to vases, trinkets, figurines and decorations. Our selection is always changing, so there's always something new to discover!

2. Get creative

We'll give you a quick introduction to underglazing and a few tips for bringing your designs to life. Then you're free to paint away at your own pace. All the paints, brushes and materials are provided, and we're always on hand if you need a little guidance.

3. Leave the rest to us

Once you've finished, we'll glaze and fire your creations, giving them a lovely glossy, food-safe finish. Your pottery will be ready to collect from the studio two weeks later – just pop back in and pick it up!

When can I come?

Pottery painting is available throughout the week, with no fixed session lengths. Pop in for a quick hour or settle in for a few – it's entirely up to you.

Monday–Wednesday: 9am–5pm

Friday: 1pm–5pm

Saturday & Sunday: 9am–1pm

You can book online to guarantee yourself a spot or just walk in during opening hours and see if there's space. Last arrivals are 30 minutes before closing, although we'd recommend giving yourself at least an hour to enjoy painting.

How much does it cost?

We like to keep things flexible, so you only pay for the pottery you choose and the time you spend painting.

£3 per person, per hour covers your time in the studio and all painting materials.

£5–£40 per piece covers your chosen pottery, including glazing and firing.

If you book online, you'll pay £3 upfront for your first hour. Any additional painting time and your chosen pottery can be paid for on the day.

Good to know

Everyone's welcome! Pottery painting is suitable for all ages and abilities, from complete beginners to seasoned creatives. Children under 13 just need to bring an adult along.

Our underglazes generally wash out of clothes, so there's no need to dress for mess. Just turn up, pick a pot, and have a play!

Book ahead or drop in – we can't wait to see what you make!
