'Dinner Party' Course

Are you a host with the most? Do you throw a great dinner party, or cook the best roasts? To give your hosting even MORE pizzazz, join us to make some handmade ceramics for the party table. You'll be using the slab building technique to make a charcuterie board, candle stick holders and a chip & dip bowl. No experience is needed, and complete beginners are very welcome. SCHEDULE Session 1: MAKE (November 27th) Learn the foundations of slab building to make your charcuterie board, candle stick holders and chip & dip bowl, incorporating any personal touches to make them truly your style. Session 2: GLAZE (December 11th) Glaze your work and discover how different finishes transform through the firing process. PLEASE NOTE: The sessions in this course are TWO weeks apart, not one. This is to allow the clay to fully dry and make it through one kiln firing before you glaze them in the second session. STUDIO & FORMAT Classes are limited to 10 students, allowing for plenty of individual support in a relaxed studio environment. Each session lasts 3 hours, including clean-up. EXPERIENCE LEVEL Suitable for complete beginners and improvers looking for more time to play with clay. We'll support you to work at your own pace. ATTENDANCE Because this is a short course, unfortunately we’re unable to offer make-up classes or alternative sessions if you miss a week. Please only book if you’re able to attend both dates, as missing a session will affect your ability to complete the course and finish your work. SOLIDARITY PRICING Low Income: £70 Standard: £78 Lend a Hand: £85 (helps subsidise lower-income places) FINISHED WORK Pieces are usually ready to collect around one week after the course ends. WHAT TO WEAR Wear comfortable clothes you don't mind getting clay on. Clay washes out easily. Bring an apron if you have one - we also have spares available. Participants must be 16 or over.
