One-Off Throwing Taster
Get a feel for the potter's wheel | £50
Service Description
In this relaxed 3-hour beginner workshop, you’ll get stuck into the basics of wheel throwing and learn how to turn a lump of clay into your own handmade pots. We’ll guide you through centring clay, pulling up the walls, and shaping different forms, with plenty of support from our tutors throughout the session. Classes are kept small to create a calm and supportive studio environment, with lots of individual guidance along the way. No previous experience is needed - complete beginners are very welcome. At the end of the session, you’ll choose up to two of your favourite pieces for the Neighbourhood team to trim, glaze, and fire for you. You’ll also pick your glaze colours, and your finished work will be ready to collect around a month after the workshop. SOLIDARITY PRICING To help keep pottery accessible, we offer three pricing options. Please choose the rate that best reflects your circumstances: - Low Income: £40 - Standard: £50 - Lend a Hand: £60 - helps subsidise lower-income places WHAT TO WEAR Pottery can get messy, so we recommend wearing comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting clay on. Clay washes out easily. Please bring an apron if you have one — we also have spares available at the studio. PLEASE NOTE: Participants must be 16 or over.
